Dubai - Mubasher: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) launched a modernisation and upgradation project at a value of AED 102 million for the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) district cooling plant in Dubai, according to a press release.
The project, which is forecast to be completed by 2025, will deploy advanced technologies to boost the energy efficiency and reliability of the cooling system. This marks the third upgrade of the district cooling plant in 19 years since its initial launch.
Empower highlighted that the upgrading process is part of the company’s objectives to enhance the district cooling infrastructure in Dubai and make JBR one of the biggest environmentally-friendly residential areas worldwide. It also contributes to saving energy, increasing efficiency, lowering carbon emissions, and relieving pressure on the national power grid.
Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “The modernisation project of the JBR plant is part of a pre-set plan to upgrade the infrastructure of all Empower plants in Dubai.”
Bin Shafar indicated that this aligns with the directives of the wise leadership to achieve the outputs of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
Last year, Empower posted net profits attributable to the shareholders valued at AED 1 billion, up 7% from AED 935.86 million in 2021.
