Riyadh – Mubasher: ACWA Power Company has received a commercial operation certificate from Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) for Group 2 of Taweelah RO Desalination Company in Abu Dhabi.
The Group 2 has a daily production capacity of 378,689 cubic metres of desalinated water, according to a bourse filing.
Meanwhile, Group 1 began commercial operation on 9 June 2022, with a daily capacity of 454,609 cubic metres of desalinated water.
The total capacity of the Taweelah RO facility stands at 833,298 cubic metres on a daily basis.
ACWA Power, which owns a 40% stake in Taweelah RO Desalination, expected that the financial impact of operating Group 2 will commence from the second quarter (Q2) of 2023 onwards.
Earlier this month, Rawabi Water Desalination Company, partly owned by ACWA Power, and Saudi Water Partnership Company inked a water purchase agreement at a value of SAR 2.54 billion.
In January-December 2022, the Tadawul-listed firm posted 102.96% year-on-year (YoY) higher net profits after Zakat and tax at SAR 1.54 billion, versus SAR 758.79 million.
