Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S) has secured a new build very large crude carrier (VLCC) Habshan in line with its growth strategy, according to a press release.
This marks the second vessel of four dual-fuel engine VLCCs, which can also run on liquefied natural gas (LNG).
ADNOC L&S committed around $2 billion to establish more environmentally efficient vessels, as it managed to lower the carbon intensity of its owned fleet by more than 20% since 2018.
The first VLCC was delivered last month, while the third and fourth ones are scheduled to arrive during the third and fourth quarters of 2023, respectively.
VLCC Habshan is designed for long-haul voyages to ship crude to customers worldwide. It has a length of 336 metres and a deadweight of 300,000 metric tonnes, carrying nearly 2 million barrels of crude every voyage.
Last June, ADNOC L&S was awarded an artificial island ‘G’ construction contract at a value of $975 million, which marked its first major project award following its ADX listing.
