Mubasher: Bahrain's leading digital solutions provider, Bahrain Telecommunication Company (Batelco), announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bahrain National Space Science Agency (NSSA) to ease further discussions between the two parties.
The MoU was signed by Batelco’s chief global business officer, Adel Al Daylami, and NSSA’s CEO, Mohamed Al Aseeri, according to a recent press release.
Under the agreement, which builds on the kingdom’s vision and plan in the space science field, Batelco will contribute to further developing NSSA’s infrastructure and engaging with external parties where possible.
Additionally, the parties will be able to identify and collaborate within any area of potential development and on projects with common interests.
In this regard, Al Aseeri said, “One of the main initiatives of NSSA is to establish a ground station that allows tracking LEO and MEO satellites and a series of meetings took place with Batelco along with site visits to Batelco’s Earth Station to examine existing facilities and to benefit from their expertise in satellite operations.”
Founded in 2014 by a royal decree, NSSA aims to elevate Bahrain’s position in the field of space sciences, hence, achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.
The agency harnesses space technologies for national development, encouraging space science and applications, developing advanced space research programmes, while ensuring capacity and creating a new space sector in the kingdom.
