Mubasher: Kuwait Telecommunications Company (stc) said, during the 5G MENA virtual conference, that the Kuwaiti telecom market is a highly challenging and evolving with growing demand, from both individuals and corporates, for 5G services and digital solutions.
stc showcased the continuous development in its networks through the adoption of new technologies injected into modern communication platforms that aim to provide a unique experience, according to a press release on Sunday.
During his remarks, general manager of Networks at stc, Ahmed Al Sherif, highlighted that stc has become an industry leader in the applications of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and the implementation of digital platforms in Kuwait.
stc’s 5G network currently covers over 90% of the populated areas in Kuwait. The company is also the first telecom firm to apply the FDD 8T8R technology on a global scale.
Additionally, stc has achieved numerous milestones throughout its journey. For example, the company had a leading role among local operators in implementing the Mobile Broadband (MBB) technology in Kuwait and was the first operator across the GCC to successfully complete the real E2E 5G standalone (SA) network, as well as expand its B2C, B2H, and B2B solutions.
The virtual conference, moreover, included various sessions covering other related topics. Technical-wise, discussions were held by participating specialists from various sectors, providing the audience with rich and informative experience.
Industry experts further spotlighted some lucrative opportunities evolved since the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the prominent role of digital transformation and automation of telecommunication services.
